Design Your Dream Lifestyle Before Starting Your Own Business

Design Your Dream Lifestyle Before Starting Your Own Business

Jump Starter

A lot of people jump into trying to start a business or make some extra money without thinking of any particular goal besides bringing in some extra cash. They're desperate to make some extra money, because they think a better income is all that's needed to improve their lives.

Don't fall into that trap.

Sure, making more money is great, and there are a lot of ways it can make your life better. You've probably heard the expression that money doesn't buy happiness but the lack of it surely brings unhappiness, and there's a lot of truth to that. But being successful in business is about more than just money. You have to figure out what you want from your business--and your life--before you jump into a new venture.

I'm fortunate enough to make a six-figure income from writing, which is something I've loved doing since grade school, and--even better--most of what I earn comes in the form of a passive income that lands in my bank account whether I'm at the keyboard typing away or if I'm in Hawaii learning how to surf or up at Whistler skiing the slopes. For me, one of the keys to success was to learning to write for myself and keep 100% of the revenue instead of getting paid hourly to write for other people. I've learned one other big lesson along the road to financial independence, and that's what I want to share with you today.

Before you start a business, there's one big question you need to ask:

What do you want your life to look like?

Let's say money isn't an issue. Your new business is a success, and you have plenty. So, close your eyes and imagine what your life would look like.

Are you traveling the world, stopping here and there to check on your business from an Internet café? Are you watching your kids at an after-school soccer game? Are you outside hiking or biking and enjoying a sunny day in the middle of the week? Are you driving a fancy car that you never could have afforded on your old salary?

Before you jump into a business, think about what you want from life. Most people who start businesses just end up making new jobs for themselves. They've traded their old boss for a new one: themselves. And because they don't get to clock out at the end of the day, as they would in a normal job, they end up working harder and longer hours than ever before. They may or may not make any more money than they did before. Even if they make more, they don't have the time to enjoy it. It's no wonder so many businesses don't succeed.

If all you want from life is things, working 12 or more hours a day may be okay, but one thing I've found is that what we really want--far more than we want fancy houses and mansions--is freedom.

We want to be able to set our own hours and take a day off when we feel like it. To my mind, that is a far greater fortune than all the money I've earned or all the money I may earn in the future.

Figure out what you want your life to look like, and then figure out how to build a business that will get you there. If you create the business first, you may be chasing freedom and happiness for the rest of your life.

3 Exercises to Improve Jumping and Agility in Girls Basketball

3 Exercises to Improve Jumping and Agility in Girls Basketball

Jump Starter

Jumping is very important in girls basketball. Jumping is required to shoot a jump shot, to preform a lay up and to also block shots. Here are some advanced exercises that involve jumping and hopping horizontally.

Standing Long Jump

This exercise is good for increasing basic leg power.

Begin by standing with your feet shoulder width apart. Your toes should be behind a starting line. Now bend your knees and bring your hands below your waist, then jump as far as you can. Try extending fully with your ankles, knees, hips and arms to jump as far as possible.

Multiple Standing Long Jumps

This is like the standing long jumps except you jump 3 times continuously.

Begin by standing with your feet shoulder width apart. Your toes should be behind a starting line. Now bend your knees and bring your hands below your waist, then jump as far as you can. Try extending fully with your ankles, knees, hips and arms to jump as far as possible. As soon as you land, try to jump again immediately. Repeat 3 times.

Four Squares

This exercise is great for building lateral movements.

Stand with your feet together on the inside of four markers. The markers can be cones or dots. Place the markers about 5 feet apart. Keep your feet together, jump in various patterns in the direction of the markers. For example, if the markers are number 1,2,3,4; a jumping sequence could be: center, 1, center,2 center, 3, center, 4, center. Another combination could be center, 1, 2, 3, 4, center. There are many combination possibilities.

High Jump Training

High Jump Training

Jump Starter

Ever wished to be in a volleyball ball game in front of millions in the Olympics or monster dunking over Dwight Howard? Well, your wish may be only a dream or who knows may become a reality. One thing for sure whether it's the Olympics or a starting spot on your high school team it won't happen unless you make it happen, so be the best you can be. Don't settle by thinking the only jumping ability you have comes from above, not true all you need to have is high jump training.

First of all, find a good and experienced trainer for yourself. Show him your abilities and work out with him, he will guide you and tell you where more effort should be put in to give the best results. A cordial relationship with your trainer is very essential during the high jump training program. He should guide you, scold you, and encourage you, whenever needed. Always take his criticism in the positive sense.

Make sure that, high jumping training is build in such a way that in includes maximum exercises, which strengthen the legs. It should be taken care that, along with strong legs, a forceful arm swing is also needed, in any sport. Overall speedy movement of the whole body is very essential. Exercises like leg presses and toe-raises are very important in high jump training. An alert mind is also required. It will ask the body to take the action at the right time.

High jump training also includes weight lifting programs. Your strength and resistance is enhanced. Your power is given a boost with this. A jump squat is a perfect example of this. It will make the athlete more energized and thus he will be ready to face the next step of training. Weight training is essential for each and every sport.

Make sure that your high jump training is not tiresome for you. Strenuous workout can lower your potential and has a negative effect on your performance. The load stresses you out and you are not able to deliver your best. Don't strain yourself too much. Take a break when needed from your high jump training sessions and let your body rest.

Remember, your desire to jump higher is only limited by your dedication and training. Don't use the excuse you were born like this!

For more information on proper high jump training from a professional trainer that trains those Olympic and pro athletes we mentioned above to jump their highest please click below.

Get a Jump Start on Life! Early College Boosts Opportunity for Teens

Get a Jump Start on Life! Early College Boosts Opportunity for Teens

Jump Starter

It was "Pomp and Circumstance" once more this spring as we attended another college graduation. This time, my 19-year-old son was graduating with his bachelor's degree in Computer Science. In less than a month, he would start his new position as an Assistant Technical Analyst in a Fortune 500 corporation. But wait... at nineteen, isn't he supposed to be starting college?

I don't know about you, but I've never seen the point in wasting time. I was always the kid who read ahead in class, finished homework before leaving school for the day, and saw no point in filling out sixteen workbook pages on a concept I already knew. When it came to educating my four boys, I've taken a similar approach. Once the basics of a subject are mastered, they can move ahead as quickly as they like, earning college credit while still in high school. Why not?

Benjamin Franklin once said, "Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time; for that's the stuff life is made of." Although traditional education has decreed that primary and secondary education should take twelve or thirteen years to complete, there is no good reason to spend that amount of time, unless you want to.

For homeschooling families, there are much more productive ways to spend those dozen years than crawling through a traditional course of study. The most compelling benefits of earning college credit during high school include increased credibility for the homeschool transcript, and a dramatic savings in the time and money needed to obtain a college degree. Let's talk about these benefits, and the two simplest ways you can start earning credit - standardized college-level exams and community college classes.

Credibility: Show What You Know While diversity is one of homeschooling's greatest assets, it can also be perceived as a liability. Pity the poor college admissions officer who has to wade through hundreds of applications and transcripts each week! When dealing with an accredited public or private school, he knows there is an objective system for assigning grades. When dealing with a homeschooler's application, though, he has no idea how objectively or by what standards grades are assigned. It makes it difficult to measure a homeschooler against someone who has been traditionally schooled.

So how can a student measurably and credibly demonstrate his learning? A parent-created high school transcript is a start, but it won't tell the whole story, unless it shows results from standardized tests or grades from sources other than the parent. When an admission officer sees on a transcript that a homeschooled student has taken English Literature and earned a 'B,' he has no way of knowing the scope and depth of the student's work. However, if the transcript lists a standardized test score or college grade along with the parent-granted grade, the admissions officer immediately has a better picture of what the student has studied and how well he understood the material. This gives him an objective point of reference, and as a bonus, may also impress him!

Save Time: Turn Study Hours into Credit Hours I recently read that it is taking students longer than ever to earn a four-year college degree. Some students are juggling jobs and school, while others have had difficulty settling on a major. Imagine what an advantage a student would have if he or she entered college with a year or two of college credit that was accumulated during the high school years! This credit cushion would provide several wonderful options. The student could:

* Choose to graduate early

* Spend a year exploring classes that look interesting

* Opt for a double major

* Start a microbusiness

* Spend time as an intern or volunteer

* Travel

By learning deeply and purposefully, and investing a little time in testing or college classes during high school, you can make the most of the high school years, and open doors to many interesting opportunities.

Money: A Penny Saved is a Dollar Earned Community college classes and college-level exams are a cheap way to earn college credit. Classes usually cost considerably less than 0 per credit hour, and most exams cost less than 0 for three to six credits. That works out to less than thirty dollars per credit hour for three-credit exams, and less than twenty dollars per credit for six-credit exams. Compared with community college classes, which are reasonable enough, exams come out way ahead, unless your state pays for community college classes when they are taken as a dual-credit option.

Why College-Level Exams? There are two benefits you can earn with exams such as the AP, CLEP, or DSST - advanced placement (also known as "testing out" of otherwise required classes), or actual college credit. The decision as to which benefit to grant rests with the college you choose, but either way, you add credibility to your transcript and save both time and money by taking them.

The beauty of exams is that they don't cause a lot of extra work. Any high-school subject can be broadened and deepened to college-level, especially a subject in which the student has a natural interest. The exams measure whether a student has acquired knowledge and understanding that is approximately comparable to what he would learn in an introductory-level college course. If a student loves a subject and has read extensively on his own, he may be ready to pass a college-level exam without much further study.

College-level exams are convenient. AP exams are offered at high schools; CLEP, DSST, and other exams are offered at test centers on college campuses nationwide. You can take exams whenever you're ready - there's no age limit. They're cheaper than most other ways of earning college credit. They're objective, many are widely accepted, and they make the most of your time. And scores are maintained on a testing company transcript for twenty years so that you can have them sent to any schools you wish at any time during those years.

Try College (with Training Wheels) Your local community college or junior college offers another option for earning credit in classes, such as lab sciences, that are difficult to manage at home. It's like college with training wheels-most students commute, many are first-generation college students, and classes are often designed to bring these students up to speed so they can transfer to a four-year college if they wish. The application process is simple; tuition is usually much lower than at a four-year school; and students can begin by trying just one or two classes at a time with no long-term commitment.

I've heard of students as young as 10 years old being admitted, but most schools prefer that students be 13 or older. My sons started taking classes when they were 15 or 16, and it has been a very positive experience for all of them. Both of my older sons completed associate's degrees, then transferred to four-year schools to complete their bachelor's. It's really nice to be graduating from college, when other people your age are graduating from high school!

An Opportunity and a Challenge As outsiders in the education establishment, homeschoolers sometimes face a credibility gap. While this needn't affect our educational choices, it's nice to be able to go above and beyond the ordinary in providing objective proof of learning. College-level exams and community college classes are cheap, accessible ways of earning college credit and proving that homeschoolers can teach themselves nearly anything they want to know.

When you decide to homeschool through high school, you have already made one non-traditional educational choice. By taking it a step farther, you can open to the door to some wonderful options that will help your student make the most of the teen years. Together, you and your teen can choose a homeschool experience that prepares them to soar. Are you ready to get a jump-start on college?

LeBron James Dunk Or How To Increase Vertical Jump

LeBron James Dunk Or How To Increase Vertical Jump

Jump Starter

Do you remember LeBron James' dunk over Damon Jones? What about the one over Tim Duncan and Rasheed Wallace? Nobody would doubt that LeBron has got mad hops. His head is at the rim almost every time he dunks! In fact, he has a 41-inch vertical.

But the most interesting fact about the 23 year old superstar is that although he is one of the strongest players in the league - he still manages to have such a sick vertical leap.

You ask where is the problem? Lets take a look at LeBron's body. The guy is build like a bodybuilder. The problem is, muscles are heavy, muscles are even heavier then fat. By the way, that's the reason you first gain weight when you start running in order to lose some fat. You build muscles first and burn fat only later. So be patient in that case. Back to Lebron - as a matter of fact, at 240 pounds he is actually too heavy for his height (6' 8'')! The average weight of an NBA player at this height is 222 pounds. But he still gets it done, he still has a vertical that is well above that of an average nba player (= 32 inches)! So, how does he do it?

"Ask me to play. I'll play.

Ask me to shoot. I'll shoot.

Ask me to pass. I'll pass.

Ask me to steal, block out, sacrifice, lead, dominate. Anything.

But it's not what you ask of me.

It's what I ask of myself."

- LeBron James

This quote gives you a hint to a point that is absolutely essential: the dedication. LeBron's work ethic is matchless (e.g. his body fat rate is 6,7 %!). Only Kobe Bryant's workout is at the same level. Lets take a look at an excerpt of LeBron's workout:

It's a 5 days a week, one hour a day workout (running and playing basketball not included, = additional 3 hours a day). Every day consists of different exercises, only certain exercises like jump rope are done every time.

Day 1 (Monday):

- Jump rope (400 jumps)

- DynaDisc foot-speed drill To develop the core, balance, and foot speed all at once, stand on the discs while holding a medicine ball. Do a small, quick hop so that your left foot is on the floor and your right foot is on the disc your left foot was just on. Hop back to your original position, then do a quick hop in the opposite direction, so that your right foot is on the floor. (20 moves in each direction)

- DynaDisc dribble drill Stand on one foot on a disc holding a basketball with both hands at chest level. (Be glad that it's not a medicine ball.) Bounce and catch it while maintaining your balance. (20 dribbles on each foot)

- Stability dribble drill Back to the medicine ball and the Core board. (20 dribbles)

- Instability push-up (right) Do 2 sets of 20 with your hands holding the Core board.

- Seated figure eight (15 in each direction)

- Leg curl (2 sets of 10)

- Seated leg extension (2 sets of 10)

- Hip abduction (2 sets of 10)

- Smith rack squat The safer squat (2 sets of 10)

- Front raise (2 sets of 10)

- Lateral raise (2 sets of 10)

- Rear deltoid raise (2 sets of 10)

- Single-arm dumbbell row (2 sets of 10)

- Elliptical machine (25 minutes)

As you may have heard, LeBron also uses belts to build stregth enhancement. Here are some examples:

- Parachute Running Chutes:

Using two small parachutes tied to a belt, LeBron does sprints using wind resistance for power and strength enhancement.

- Bungees:

Two bungee cords tied to a lifting belt. Resisted sprints-forwards and backwards, then resisted slides, also jumps.

As for the vertical jump exercises, the interesting thing is besides the common exercises like jump rope and calf raises, LeBron uses some special, very effective exercises.

Here is an example:

- Split-Squat Jumps:

Starting Position: Start in a semi-lunge position with one foot in front of the other. Movement: Jump up as high as you can, alternating foot positions in mid-air. (If you begin this exercise with your left foot forward, your left foot should be in the back of the right foot at the completion of one repetition.). Use your hands for balance, land softly and under control.
2 Sets, 10 sec (later 15, 20, 25 sec)

For the rest of the exercises and crucial things to know about vertical jump (f.e. why often what you "don't" do is more important then what you "do" do) please take a look at:

Pokemon Black & White - Second Battle with Bianca

Pokemon Black & White - Second Battle with Bianca Video Clips.

As you reach the end of Route 2, Bianca will emerge (seeming to have walked UP the ledges you can only jump down!) to battle you again, in what will be the first of many, many battles with your hometown rivals. She now adds a Lillipup to her party. This little dog is fairly strong compared to most other Pokemon available up until this point - certainly more than a Patrat or Purrloin. You may wish to catch one yourself, as they can be reasonably high-leveled, even in the wild - up to level 7. Hopefully you've leveled your starter a bit, and can make use of a STAB attack; doing so will make Belle's starter easier to deal with than her lower-leveled Lillipup. A strong offense will aid you, but make sure you save your starter to deal with hers. ©Pokémon, Nintendo, Creatures, GAME FREAK Content posted here under fair use as a news reporting service.

Training to Jump: Workouts to Improve Vertical, Increase Leap

Training to Jump: Workouts to Improve Vertical, Increase Leap

Jump Starter

I've been an avid basketball player all my life. Played more games than I can count, and since day one I've been progressing to improve my skills. At first I focused on basketball exercises, thinking that'd be all I'd need to become better. Working on my dribbling, improving my speed, and defining my shot were all steps to getting my game where I wanted it to be. Yet I neglected a vital part of my improvement, when driving to the basket my average vertical jump was very poor. I had done a few workouts based on how to increase leap, but it seemed like nothing would work. So I decided to research workouts that increase leap. Bought every program you can think of, sought help from peers, and probably read more articles on body dynamics than I ever thought existed. What I found out was, the majority of basketball exercises that were said to increase leap and average vertical jump were just simple core and leg workouts based on repetition and consistency. Secret's out about how to really increase leap and average vertical jump, for all of us who are serious about training to jump and sick of basketball exercises with little results. Don't worry about jumping higher, concentrate on becoming a better athlete.

I'm not going to put down any basketball exercises or jumping programs, because they all have valuable information on how to increase leap as well as ones game. Yet the thing that all of the drills had in common were that they were all focused around nontraditional basketball exercises that not only improved average vertical jump, but benefited speed, agility, and overall athletic ability. The better an athlete you become the faster you'll run, quicker you'll move, and will increase leap and average vertical jump. Some of these drills may surprise you, but even if the exercises seem simple they are the ones that'll produce the biggest results on your average vertical jump. Don't forget that if you repetitively do these, you will jump higher, move quicker, and run faster, I promise you.

Training to jump:

Crunches: all about core strength, the one part of your body you use in every single motion. The best exercise when training to jump higher. Lay flat on your back with your knees pointing towards the sky and your feet flat on the ground; raise up to a point where your shoulders are off the ground, but not your entire back. Yes sit ups aren't good for your back, but crunches are a great way around that problem. They not only target you core but they establish a good base to increase your vertical jump.

Planks: Another core and balance exercise, lay face down and come up on your toes and your elbows. While keeping your body in a straight position, hold, you should feel your core. Another variation of this also targets your oblique. Lie on your side and come up on one of your elbows, as you hold in a side plank position. This is a great exercise to strengthen oblique's.

Squats: No matter how you're built you'll be able to squat. Some of us can do weighted squats but that isn't always necessary. If you don't have access to weights, by simply starting in a standing position bending your knees and bringing your thighs into a parallel position and coming back up you can do a squat. Remember repetition is key when training to jump. Do a lot of these and you'll feel it the next day, but as soon as your body adapts, like it will, you'll see results.

Jump Squats: also in a standing position bend your knees and bring your thighs parallel to the ground, once in this position explode upwards as high as you can, land softly and repeat. The best way to improve on something is to simulate the action as many times as possible. This exercise emulates the motion your body goes through when jumping.

Stretching: is something that is usually if not always overlooked, when training to jump, if your flexibility is poor then you might as well put away your sneakers now. Before and after every workout make sure to stretch. Stretch your legs, core, and work on your overall flexibility. Standing stretches as well as seated stretches are always beneficial to your health. There's no point getting your muscles to a place you want them and not being able to move or getting injured because of poor flexibility.

How to Jump Start a Car - Simple Step-By-Step Instructions

How to Jump Start a Car - Simple Step-By-Step Instructions

Jump Starter

Wondering how to jump start a car? If so, then keep reading. This article will guide you step-by-step on how to test a battery, hook up a battery, and how to start a car using nothing but a pair of jumper cables and another working vehicle.

This article assumes that you already have a set of good jumper cables (or can borrow a set), and a working car to give you the jump start. It also assumes that you have both cars positioned close enough for the jumper cables to reach each vehicle.

NOTE: You should always use safety equipment if you have it. A good set of gloves and safety glasses should be an essential part of your roadside emergency kit.

Locate both of the RED, positive (+) clamps on the set of jumper cables, as well as the black or negative (-) clamps. Jumper cables are usually color-coded to make things easier to use - and less dangerous. Ensure that the vehicle containing the GOOD battery is not running and the ignition is turned off in both vehicles. Connect the RED clamp to the positive (+) post on the DEAD battery. Next, connect the other RED clamp to the positive (+) post of the GOOD battery. Third, connect the BLACK clamp to the negative (-) post of the GOOD battery. Here's the tricky part. DO NOT connect the remaining BLACK clamp to the negative post of the dead battery. You will now need to find and connect it to a bit of exposed metal. This can sometimes be a bolt, or piece of the chassis under the hood. You will know that you have a good connection when you see a tiny spark when you connect the final clamp. Warning: If you connect the final clamp directly to the negative post of the dead battery, you run the risk of igniting the highly flammable hydrogen, coming from the battery. Start the car containing the GOOD battery. Wait at least 5 minutes. Attempt to start the car containing the dead battery. If the car doesn't start, you may need to wait longer than 5 minutes, especially in colder weather. When the car containing the dead battery finally does start, you will need to remove the jumper cables as soon as possible. However, you will need to remove them in reverse order, starting with the black clamp that was connected to the exposed piece of metal.

That is how to jump start a car.

If your car battery needs to be jump started on a regular basis, it may be time to replace the battery. When batteries get old, they have more trouble holding enough power to start a car. A good battery typically costs less than 0 (sometimes much less) and is well worth the money, in my opinion.

Also, if you are frequently needing to jump start cars or trucks (not necessarily your own), check out the Schumacher PSJ2212 Jump Starter. It's the only way that I know how to jump start a car without another car around.

as i said i should have recorded the initial resting voltage but it should be clear observing the charging voltage on the meter that this battery is not "good". hopefully when im done it will be. but this is basically the rundown of what happens when you restore a junked battery. and yes i know "capacitance" may not be the correct wording, "potential" is probably better, but capacitance is how i see it lol.. but note this battery was given to me totally f'ed up. rested at under 1V and refused to accept any DC. 6 or so hours of DC 2A and it fell right back to 1v soon as i disconnected.. this is how you know the battery is no good duh... well after a good while of leaving it on the pulse charger, it finally started absorbing a charge. at first the neon would stay lit and the meter would read as if the circuit was unloaded. this is because the battery has no capacitance as it were. over time you can begin to see the neon flicker as if to say a little bit was being absorbed. eventually the neon totally goes out indicating the battery is now wanting to suck up some juice, and this is also indicated by the output voltage across the meter which should have steadily dropped. i am looking for the voltage to keep dropping until it has reached its normal level around 12 to 13v, at which point it COULD go back on a regular car charger, but i will let it fall to 12v 13v and wait til it starts rising again and reaches maybe 14 or 15v.. if all goes well this will happen in few days and ...

Blake Griffin Dunk or the Top 3 Exercises to Jump Higher

Blake Griffin Dunk or the Top 3 Exercises to Jump Higher

Jump Starter

Did you see Blake Griffin's dunk over Timofey Mozgov in November 2010? Most people agree that it's one of the best NBA dunks of the last years. And Blake Griffin doesn't get tired dunking - in fact he leads the league in dunks (100 until January 26, 2011).

Being 6 ft. 10 inches (2.08 m) tall and having a 37.5-inch vertical, dunking is easy for Blake, however it's interesting that his standing reach and wingspan are far below average for his position (power forward). The reason for his almost unique combination of power and explosion (LeBron James and Dwight Howard are two other examples) is a special training - workouts on sand with a 60-pound (27 kg) weight vest obviously pay off.

But, you don't need to complete such an extreme training in order to improve your vertical jump. There are great exercises that will help you to increase your vertical in a short period of time. So, without further chit-chat, here are the top 3 exercises to jump higher:

1) Box Jumps. For this exercise you need a solid box. The idea is simple: jump onto the box, step down and repeat the motion. Start with a box height of 16 inches (40 cm) and increase the height if you have no problem jumping onto it. Do 6 reps per set.

2) Depth Jumps. The goal here is to step off the box and jump back in the air with maximum power as soon as you hit the ground. Do 8 reps per set (max. 4) - only two days a week! Your muscles need to regenerate after such intensive athletic ability.

3) Split Squat Jumps. This exercise will improve your leg strength and explosiveness. Starting position is the lunge position (check in on google images or youtube). Now jump up and switch legs. Repeat the exercise 8 times on each leg (5 sets). By the way, split squat jumps are part of Brandon Roy's (40-inch vertical) daily routine.

Don't forget to warm up and stretch before AND after your workouts! Also, keep in mind that if you want to improve your vertical jump you need to work on your jumping explosion and NOT jumping endurance.

That's why jumping as much as you can will do more harm than good. It's all about the right execution of the exercises, the right amount of repetitions and the right amount of rest (especially doing plyometrics) - as your muscles need a lot of time to regenerate after intense athletic activity (at least 24 hours, 48 is even better).

I recommend to stick to a vertical jump program ( The Jump Manual ) as it gives you concrete training plans, exercise videos, numbers of sets and repetitions.

P.S. You probably know Blake Griffin will be in the 2011 NBA slam dunk Contest. But did you know that Blake won the Slam Dunk Contest at the McDonald's All-American game in 2007 (a one-point win against Austin Freeman)?
